Snow Fountain Weeping Cherry Tree

To Our Friends Who We Loved So Fondly

We are here to remember, we are here to reflect,
Of our classmates, our friends, who we’ll never forget.
This tree that we plant, may it flower and grow,
To provide strength and love to all whom we know.
May it flourish and thrive for many years to come,
Spreading its beauty over the grounds of where we came from.
May it give solace and strength to our families and friends,
To provide a voice that delivers the message it sends.
It’s been so many years since we’ve come along,
And hard to imagine that so many have gone.
Why does this happen, why so many have been taken,
Nobody knows, but it leaves the rest of us shaken.
We remember ‘back in the day’ when times were so easy,
Now our kids tell us, that we are just being cheesy.
But that is okay, someday they will know,
That lasting friendships are what makes us grow.
Friends since grammar, junior and high school,
Just being friends was extremely cool.
Broadview, Rogers Park or newly arrived in town,
We didn’t care; you were part of our crowd.
Whether DHS or ACE, it didn’t matter the place
They were part of our class, who cared of what space.
Laughter, jokes, first kisses and smiles,
Memories of great times are longer than miles.
Levis, Jordache, Sassoon, Calvin Klein,
Not a concern, for our friends were all kind.
Sports, music, theater, arts and shop,
Our friends all had talent that nothing could top.
Touching and shaping our formative years,
We rejoice in reflecting through all of the tears.
Each passing year, we know not what will come,
Yet knowing what we all had, is second to none.
We are here to remember, we are here to reflect,
Of our classmates, our friends, who we’ll never forget.
To provide strength and love to all whom we know,
Because lasting friendships are what makes us grow.
